Jaw Pain, Headaches, or Facial Pain? In-Home TMJ & TMD Physical Therapy
If chewing, yawning, talking, clenching, or sleep has become harder because of your jaw, we can help you understand what’s contributing and whether physical therapy is right for you.
TMD—often called “TMJ problems”—can involve the jaw joints, chewing muscles, neck, and habits that affect how your jaw moves. Your 60-minute in-home evaluation looks at the full picture and may include hands-on care, soft-tissue work, dry needling, myofunctional therapy, and targeted exercises. Initial evaluation and treatment: $195.
If This Sounds Like You, You May Be in the Right Place
This page may be for you if jaw pain, clicking, popping, locking, headaches, facial pain, ear pressure, neck tension, clenching, or pain with chewing, speaking, yawning, or sleeping is affecting your daily life. You may also notice mouth breathing, difficulty with tongue posture, restless sleep, or difficulty eating.
We are primarily private pay. A superbill may be available for you to submit for possible out-of-network reimbursement; reimbursement is not guaranteed.

Why TMD Care Should Look Beyond the Jaw
-
You’re Tired of Working Around Jaw Pain
Maybe chewing, yawning, talking, or opening wide has become something you constantly think about. Your care starts with a focused assessment so we can connect your symptoms to the jaw, muscles, neck, breathing, and habits that may be contributing.
-
Understand What Is Driving Your Symptoms
Jaw pain can involve more than the joint itself. We look at how your jaw moves, how your neck and muscles contribute, how your tongue rests, how you breathe, and what happens with chewing, clenching, sleep, and daily activity.
-
Leave With a Clear Plan You Can Use
When appropriate, treatment can begin during your first visit. You may receive hands-on care, soft-tissue work, dry needling, myofunctional exercises, movement retraining, and a practical home program built around your goals.
Jaw Pain Is Not Always Just a Jaw Joint Problem
Jaw symptoms can show up as aching, clicking, locking, headaches, facial pain, ear pressure, neck tension, or pain with chewing. The right plan depends on what your examination shows—not on a one-size-fits-all label.
Your visit begins with a focused TMD evaluation: jaw opening and closing, joint and muscle behavior, neck movement, posture, tongue and breathing patterns, clenching habits, chewing, and the activities that bring on your symptoms.
When appropriate, treatment can begin during the same visit. If your presentation suggests that additional dental, medical, or sleep-related evaluation would help, we will explain the next step and help guide you to the right provider.
What to Expect From Your Jaw Pain Evaluation
Your first visit is a 60-minute, one-on-one evaluation and treatment session in your home. We’ll learn what you are feeling, what triggers it, and how jaw pain, headaches, sleep, breathing, or eating are affecting daily life.
Before the visit ends, you’ll understand what we found, why it may be happening, and what your next step should be.
-
We’ll talk through when your symptoms started, what they feel like, what brings them on, and how they affect chewing, speaking, yawning, working, exercising, breathing, and sleep. We’ll also ask about clenching, tongue posture, and anything that makes your jaw feel better or worse.
-
Your evaluation may include jaw opening and closing, joint and muscle assessment, neck movement, posture, tongue posture, breathing pattern, clenching, chewing, and the activities that reproduce your symptoms.
If your presentation suggests that another provider would be a better starting point, we will explain the next step and help guide you rather than treating outside our scope.
-
Treatment can begin during your first visit when appropriate. This may include hands-on joint and muscle techniques, soft-tissue work, dry needling, myofunctional therapy, breathing and tongue-posture retraining, targeted exercises, and a home plan you can actually follow.
What TMD Treatment Can Include
-

Focused, One-on-One Attention
TMD symptoms can be frustrating and hard to pin down. Your evaluation focuses on the jaw, chewing muscles, neck, tongue posture, breathing, and habits that may be contributing.
-

60 Minutes of Private, One-on-One Care
Your initial visit is fully dedicated to you, with time to understand your symptoms, perform the appropriate examination, explain the findings, and begin treatment when indicated.
-

Care Brought Directly to Your Home
Some people need a few focused visits; others benefit from a longer plan. Your recommendations are based on what we find, how you respond, and what is needed to help you eat, speak, sleep, work, and move with more confidence.
-

Treatment Based on What We Find
Treatment may include hands-on care, soft-tissue work, dry needling, myofunctional therapy, movement retraining, and targeted home exercises—chosen based on your evaluation and goals.
-

Communication With Your Medical Team When Needed
When symptoms suggest that dental, medical, or sleep-related input would help, we’ll explain why and help you understand the next step. Physical therapy works alongside, not instead of, appropriate medical or dental care.
Symptoms We Can Help Evaluate
You do not need to know exactly what is causing your symptoms before contacting us. Jaw and facial symptoms can show up in many ways, and your evaluation helps determine whether physical therapy is appropriate and what may be contributing.
-
• Jaw pain or soreness
• Clicking or popping with opening or closing
• Locking, catching, or limited opening
• Pain or fatigue with chewing, yawning, or talking
-
• Headaches that may start at the temples or behind the eyes
• Facial pain, pressure, or tension
• Ear pressure or fullness noticed alongside jaw symptoms
• Neck tension that seems connected to jaw symptoms
-
• Mouth breathing or difficulty keeping the tongue resting up
• Snoring, restless sleep, or waking unrefreshed
• Jaw tension that increases overnight or with clenching
• Difficulty coordinating breathing, swallowing, or tongue posture
-
• Difficulty chewing or avoiding certain foods
• Pain with talking, singing, or yawning
• Fatigue from holding your jaw a certain way
• Feeling like your bite or movement is changing
Breathing and sleep concerns may be part of the overall picture, but physical therapy is not a substitute for dental, medical, or sleep evaluation. If another provider’s input is needed, we will explain the next step.
A Clearer Way Forward
If you’ve been told your jaw pain is “just stress” or given generic exercises without answers, it can be hard to know what to try next. We’ll explain what we found, what physical therapy can address, and what to do between visits.
